Our open reading period is from January 1 – 31.
YAK Press is devoted to making art using words as its medium. Founded by writers who teach, our goals are to: cultivate literacy, raise the level of public discourse, foster the artful use of language, and nurture emergent writers. Our literature and learning materials aim to immerse readers, and propel them toward thoughtful contributions to the cultural conversation.
The Native Blossoms Chapbook Series exemplifies these goals. Each chapbook manuscript for this series must contain at least one “constraint” poem, which takes the name of a wildflower or other plant native to the poet’s locale as its title. Examples of constraint poems from the series can be viewed here: NATIVE BLOSSOMS SAMPLER
Please send a manuscript of up to 30 pages of poetry in one attachment (.doc, .docx, or .pdf) to firstname.lastname@example.org with CHAPBOOK SUBMISSION as the subject line. Submissions of chapbook manuscripts of more than 30 pages will not be considered. A cover letter is helpful, but not required.
